We are now seeking a skilled and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join our finance team in Newry.
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance function, and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations.
Process supplier invoices, payments, and customer receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
Prepare and reconcile VAT returns.
Support payroll preparation and related record-keeping.
Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve invoice or payment queries.
Work closely with the wider team — counter staff, drivers, yard staff, and management — to ensure smooth financial operations.
Support the Financial Controller with ad-hoc projects and process improvements.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
Strong knowledge of accounting systems (experience with Sage, Xero, or similar software preferred).
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Confident with Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise across teams and with external contacts.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive finance team.
