We are currently recruiting a Chief Sustainability and Environmental Officer to join our client who specializes in the design and construction of data centres.

A note from our client :

In this role, you will be responsible for integrating the company’s sustainability strategy across all departments at the enterprise level. This includes implementing strategic initiatives, leading the Sustainability Team, and developing metrics for accountability. You will also drive the company’s journey toward carbon neutrality, advise on sustainability practices from enterprise to resort levels, and establish educational and stakeholder engagement programs.

Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership : Enhance the company’s sustainability program, ensuring its effectiveness across all levels, alignment with industry standards, and significant climate impact

Execution & Alignment : Lead the implementation of the multi-year sustainability strategic plan, ensuring alignment with regional and office-level strategies.

Metrics & Reporting : Establish and apply best practices for sustainability metrics, setting measurable goals and providing regular progress reports to Executive Leadership.

Guidance & Education : Offer ongoing support and education on sustainability policies across all departments, ensuring seamless integration of sustainability initiatives.

Collaboration : Work closely with the Social Responsibility team and other divisions, such as Marketing, Procurement, and Operations, to align enterprise-level sustainability efforts.

Team Leadership : Lead and foster a cohesive Sustainability Team, developing a clear communication and implementation strategy.

Environmental Impact : Set and monitor benchmarks for the company’s environmental impact and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals.

Compliance & Best Practices : Ensure the company adheres to all relevant environmental regulations, and proactively incorporate future policies and best practices.

Budget Management : Manage the budget for sustainability initiatives effectively.

Inspiration & Innovation : Serve as a culturally competent, innovative, and motivating leader, driving internal and external adoption of best sustainability practices.

Travel : Travel as necessary to fulfill these responsibilities.

Requirements :

Relevant experience in data centres is advantageous.

PhD educated.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work off own initiative.

Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
