Development Lead

Production Equipment UC is a leading industrial distributor supplying over 80,000 products to customers across Europe. We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Custom Development Lead to oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of bespoke software solutions across the organization. This role requires a strong development background combined with excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. You will be responsible for working closely with internal teams, external developers, and customers to ensure high-quality, modern, and scalable solutions are delivered on time and within scope. Key Responsibilities : Lead and coordinate custom software development projects across multiple departments and teams. Collaborate directly with customers and internal stakeholders to gather, document, and refine business requirements. Translate customer needs into technical specifications and actionable development plans. Oversee internal and external development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards. Ensure projects are delivered using up-to-date development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps, CI / CD). Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor developers as needed. Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines, reporting status updates to the Head of IT. Assess and implement tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve development efficiency and quality. Ensure solutions are robust, secure, scalable, and meet defined quality standards. Manage risks, troubleshoot issues, and resolve blockers across multiple projects. Qualifications : Education : Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Project management or Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, PMP). Background in developing or overseeing enterprise-grade applications or platforms. Skills & Experience : Proven experience in software development (e.g., .NET, JavaScript, Python, or similar). Experience managing or leading development teams or projects. Strong understanding of modern development practices, architecture, and lifecycle management. Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and manage the development process end-to-end. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational and project management skills. Familiarity with source control (e.g., Git), issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and development pipelines.
