Senior Mechanical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION : Engineer JOB PURPOSE : The Senior Engineer will provide design input on a range of projects.

Where appropriate (usually on smaller projects), they may act as lead engineer and contribute to the co-ordination of input from other members of the design team, resource allocation and project management.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS : Reporting to Possible Direct Reports Other Key Relationships Associate Engineers of other disciplines Specialist consultants (eg Acoustics, Fire, Lighting) Internal support functions (eg HR, Finance, IT, Marketing, Legal) External clients WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS JOB?

• Technically sound work consistently designed and delivered, in accordance with agreed deadlines and budgets
• Evidence of self-development, including progression towards Chartership with a relevant professional institution DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY :

1. Working primarily under the supervision of more senior engineers.

Work will be checked and verified by more experienced staff.

2. Responsibility for those aspects of project management and / or design work specifically delegated to the postholder.

3. May lead key elements of specific projects on a day-to-day basis, under the guidance and supervision of a more experienced team member.

4. Informal mentoring of less experienced team members as required.

5. Pro-actively managing own professional development within the framework provided by accredited training agreements.
