Job Title : Temporary Senior Psychologist - Acute Psychiatric Unit

Location : Cavan General Hospital

Job Type : Temporary

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations for patients in the acute psychiatric unit.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments.

Provide evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions to patients with acute psychiatric conditions.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated patient care.

Offer consultation and support to staff regarding psychological aspects of patient care.

Participate in case conferences and contribute to treatment planning.

Conduct risk assessments and develop management strategies for patients with complex needs.

Supervise and mentor junior psychologists and psychology interns.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and treatment outcomes.

Required Skills

Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.

Expertise in delivering a range of psychological therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other relevant approaches.

Experience working in acute psychiatric settings.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Proficiency in maintaining patient records and utilizing healthcare software systems.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest research and practices in psychology.

Qualifications

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.

Professional registration with the relevant psychology board or authority.

Significant experience in a clinical setting, preferably in acute psychiatric care.

Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
