We are urgently seeking a Senior Respiratory Physiotherapist for a hospital in Westmeath, Ireland .

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret a full range of respiratory investigations, including spirometry, diffusion studies, lung volumes, reversibility testing, bronchoprovocation challenges, allergy testing, and sleep studies such as full or limited polysomnography and CPAP titration, ensuring accurate and valid results.
• Maintain meticulous patient records and provide clear, empathetic explanations of tests and results to patients.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary team discussions, clinical case reviews, and promote patient education and self-management strategies for respiratory health.
• Oversee the calibration, servicing, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment, liaising with clinical engineering and suppliers, and ensuring adherence to infection control, data protection, and patient safety standards.
• Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, quality control processes, and hospital quality and safety frameworks.
• Lead by example in promoting evidence-based, patient-centred care, participating in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes.
• Contribute to the training, supervision, and mentoring of junior physiologists and students, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Support service development and innovation by integrating new technologies, digital reporting systems, and home-based testing initiatives, while participating in planning and review processes for clinical effectiveness.
• Engage with current research and evidence-based practice to inform respiratory diagnostics, participate in research and quality improvement projects, and disseminate best practices through training and professional forums.
• Maintain professional competence, adhere to ethical guidelines, and actively participate in continuous education, in-service training programmes, and professional development initiatives.

Requirements

Holds a recognised BSc Degree in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement, or an equivalent qualification.

Possesses a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in a Respiratory or Sleep Laboratory.

Demonstrates proficiency in performing and interpreting a wide range of respiratory investigations.

Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients and colleagues.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Possesses strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
