Senior Grade Clinical / Counselling Psychologist

Role : Senior Grade Clinical / Counselling Psychologist Location : The successful candidate will have the possibility of hybrid working. The office base will be in Tullamore. Tenure : Full-time, permanent (pending probationary period) This is an exciting new service development within the Muiriosa Foundation. The successful candidate will become a key member of an evolving psychological services team led by the Principal Psychology Manager. The person appointed will work as part of the psychology team and in close collaboration with other clinicians in providing psychological assessment, formulation, and a range of interventions to supports to adults with intellectual disabilities and Autistic adults with high support needs. This post will involve in-reach service provision across Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, and Kildare. The Muiriosa Foundation promotes a human rights-based approach. Psychologists develop evidence-informed, and values led, interventions collaboratively with the person supported, following comprehensive assessment of each persons strengths, needs and within the context of their environment. The successful candidate will work flexible hours depending on the needs of the individuals supported and their circles of support. The Senior Psychologist will : Develop a psychological service for people supported by the Person-Centred Wing under the direction of the Principal Clinical Psychologist. The Person-Centred Wing is a set of individualized service arrangements which try to break the mould of traditional services by focussing on Social Role Valorisation as a solution to societal devaluation. Contribute to the delivery and future developments of an effective psychology service in line with organisational priorities and goals, and within established professional standards, guidelines, and policy Work with senior management and the Person-Centred Wing Project Manager to ensure co-ordinated and comprehensive service delivery to, and effective communication with, all stakeholders. We supervise trainee counselling and clinical psychologists on adult disability placements. We provide academic input and tutoring on professional training courses. The successful candidates must be able to show the following : Undergraduate degree in psychology obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours and Irish post-graduate professional qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (essential). OR An equivalent professional clinical or counselling psychology qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health (essential). Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland or a member of the British Psychological Society (essential). Demonstrated competence in provision of psychological support to adults with intellectual disability and Autistic adults with high support needs. Applicants must have at least five years satisfactory post-graduate experience in professional psychology, no more than three years of which spent in gaining the post-graduate professional qualification, and no less than two years full-time spent in post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post-graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years experience requirement. Previous experience in a senior post. Experience of interdisciplinary working. Proved competence in provision of psychological support to adults with intellectual disability and Autistic adults with high support needs (essential) Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills.
