As their Environmental & Sustainability Specialist, you will lead, shape, and elevate their environmental impact across projects, processes, and people. Responsibilities : Deliver measurable environmental improvements in the sector, working alongside multiple trades. Use your strong understanding of ISO 14001 and environmental assurance to ensure we adhere to industry standards, regulations, and legal obligations. Drive forward strategy in key sustainability themes : decarbonisation, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity. Support project onboarding, implementation and delivery; conduct reviews, audits and manage associated procedures and improvement plans. Identify environmental risks & opportunities in projects, propose mitigation strategies, monitor implementation, and continuously report on performance. Prepare or coordinate monthly reports with the SESM (Sustainability & Environmental Systems Manager), feeding data into continual improvement cycles. Work with environmental certification and assessment tools (for example, BREEAM, LEED, WELL) to help shape and meet project certification requirements. Champion our sustainability strategy; lead training and awareness-raising with project teams and regional operations. Provide support for tenders and proposals : prepare environmental sections of PQQs / tenders, including narratives in line with client expectations. Represent us in peer-to-peer interactions with clients and external stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and subject matter credibility. Requirements : We need someone with a solid foundation and proven experience, who is enthusiastic about shaping environmental outcomes. At least 3 years' experience in an environmental or sustainability role, ideally within construction, civil engineering or a closely related industry. A good working knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems, including experience implementing or auditing systems. Strong competence in sustainability strategy elements : decarbonisation, circular economy, climate adaptation, biodiversity. Experience with environmental reporting, including carbon footprinting, KPI measurement, and management reviews. Familiarity with environmental certification frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL) and assessment tools. Ability to draft management plans, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies. Highly effective communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement - able to influence across all levels of the business. Good IT literacy : particularly Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and reporting tools. Aspirational membership (or intermediate level) in a relevant professional body, working toward full membership. Proactive mindset with strong planning and organizational skills; able to monitor productivity and meet tight deadlines. Analytical thinker who can interpret data and drive performance improvements.
