Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client have a requirement for a Network Infrastructure Manager to join their team. The duration of this post is 6 months initially with likely extensions thereafter. The role will be hybrid working in South Dublin (Dublin 24). Working 35 hours per week, the successful candidate will be employed as an agency employee and will be paid an hourly rate of €44.60 per hour based on an annualised salary of €81,444. You will accrue 30 days annual leave per year and paid Bank Holidays. Job Purpose : The Infrastructure Manager will lead the design, development, and operational integrity of ICT infrastructure across service. This critical role includes responsibility for secure and resilient networking, virtualisation platforms, database systems, and cybersecurity technologies to ensure continuity of mission-critical services. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding ICT operations. Key Responsibilities : Infrastructure & Systems Management Partner with the BIM to oversee all infrastructure systems supporting emergency services operations. Lead the planning, implementation, and ongoing support of secure network architecture and communications systems. Oversee and optimise virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), including compute, storage, and virtual desktop infrastructure. Ensure the reliable and secure operation of enterprise database systems, supporting data integrity, performance, and availability. Develop and enforce data management and backup strategies to support disaster recovery and business continuity. Drive service performance through effective fault management, capacity planning, patching, monitoring, and user support. Cybersecurity & Risk Management Design and implement comprehensive cybersecurity frameworks across infrastructure, databases, and communication systems. Monitor and respond to security threats, ensuring compliance with national and organisational security policies. Lead incident response procedures, risk assessments, and regular security audits to maintain a strong cyber posture. Database Management Manage the administration, performance, and security of enterprise database environments (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent). Ensure data availability, backup, replication, and disaster recovery processes are fully implemented and tested. Collaborate with application owners and data stakeholders to support integrations, reporting, and compliance requirements. Professional Knowledge & Technical Expertise Deep understanding of ICT infrastructure, particularly within mission-critical environments. Expert knowledge of networking technologies (e.g., LAN / WAN, VLAN, firewalls, VPN, SD-WAN). Proficiency in virtualisation platforms and storage management. Strong background in database technologies, administration, and security best practices. Experience managing 3rd-party vendors, service providers, and procurement frameworks. Knowledge of ICT operational frameworks such as ITIL. Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications including Teams, Visio, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint. Communication & Interpersonal Skills Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Produce high-quality written reports and strategic documentation. Build positive, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Planning & Execution Manage multiple infrastructure projects and priorities concurrently. Identify and implement improvements to infrastructure efficiency, scalability, and resilience. Support organisational change through proactive adoption of new technologies and best practices. Analytical Thinking & Decision Making Analyse complex problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions under pressure. Demonstrate sound judgement and accountability in decision-making. Proactively identify infrastructure risks and develop mitigation strategies. Essential : Significant experience in a senior ICT infrastructure role covering networking, virtualisation, cybersecurity, and database management. Proven track record of leading infrastructure operations in a mission-critical environment. Experience with infrastructure and database resilience, disaster recovery, and high availability planning. Excellent leadership, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement capabilities. Desirable : Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA / CCNP, VMware, MCSE / MCDBA, CISSP, ITIL, PRINCE2 / PMP).
