Physiotherapy Assistant

Full Time Permanent Position

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Physiotherapy Assistant will work under the direction and guidance of Physiotherapists to support the provision of Physiotherapy Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o  Set up / clean up

o  Support physiotherapist during group

o  Run a prescribed group independently

o  Prepping materials etc

Booking

o  Booking appointment for individual, group or other clinic appointments.

o  Booking spaces for clinics, sessions, meetings etc.

Assessments - general

o  Assist the physiotherapist to carry out an assessment.

Sessions

o  Prepare session environment as prescribed by the physiotherapist

o  Second pair of hands when needed

o  Understand a supported person's needs, to involve and motivate the person in the therapeutic process.

Treatment / Programmes

o  Carry out prescribed treatment programmes with supported persons

o  Observe the general behaviour, ability and response of the supported person to a therapeutic intervention and report the observations to the physiotherapist.

o  Home or community visit may be required under the prescription / direction of the supervising physiotherapist.

Hydrotherapy

o  Testing and recording parameters of water as required e.g. Chemical (chlorine / PH / temp) and Microbiological.

o  Communicate with Microbiology / Technical services according to local requirements

o  Management of the plant room including backwashing and chemical management as required

o  Knowledge of and able to apply contamination strategy in line with local guidelines

o  Cleaning pool, checking filters and equipment

o  Second person on deck and to assist with service users

o  Emergency lead on site

o  Management of pool timetable and environment as necessary
