Windows Support Engineer Job Type : Contract : 6-12 months Location : Dublin City Centre, Ireland (hybrid / remote flexibility where applicable) Job Description : Our client, a leading Fintech organisation in the financial services sector, is seeking a Windows Support Engineer with strong application, SQL, and infrastructure support capabilities. This is a permanent opportunity for a technically versatile professional to support and enhance IT services within a complex enterprise environment. Job Responsibilities Provide end-to-end support across application, infrastructure, and SQL environments. Administer and support Windows Server environments (2008R2 through to 2022), including cluster management. Perform server administration tasks on both Windows and Linux platforms. Deliver technical support and solutions for Level 1, 2 and 3 issues. Implement, manage and support network infrastructure technologies such as DNS, Infoblox, Active Directory and storage platforms. Collaborate with development teams to translate business requirements and support SQL queries. Participate in change management, incident escalation, and proactive lifecycle management activities. Contribute to disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP), including regular exercises and documentation. Engage in performance monitoring, vendor management, and the coordination of licenses, training, and access. Work cross-functionally with teams in storage, security, system architecture, and related infrastructure functions. Experience Required Minimum 5 years experience in a Windows support, infrastructure or application support role. Proven hands-on experience with Windows Server environments including clustering. Solid background in server administration and troubleshooting. Exposure to both SQL Server support and query development. Experience managing or interacting with network infrastructure including DNS, AD, storage, and traffic management tools. Desirable Skills Experience with VSphere, particularly in relation to SRM (Site Recovery Manager). Familiarity with scripting and automation to streamline operational tasks. Experience in DR / BCP planning and coordination. Awareness of infrastructure security, accessibility, and version control best practices. Educational Requirements A third-level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline. Working Hours & Benefits Monday to Friday standard working hours.
