Transport Planner

Overview

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating the company fleet, drivers, and crew members.

You will manage day-to-day issues, ensuring the completion of routes and maximizing efficiency.

You will be the point of contact for team member issues and will support the team where necessary.

Qualifications

Experience required in a transport planning / scheduling role

Ability to work under your own initiative with strong motivational skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Strong team player and customer-focused

Self-motivated, ambitious, and enjoy working in a busy environment

Responsibilities

Report to the Transport Manager

Become a key member of the transport team

Operate closely with the Transport Manager to ensure constant communication with vehicles, drivers, and on-board systems to meet service requirements

Merge customer requirements and driver / vehicle availability with daily and weekly transport plans, communicating with all parties to ensure sufficient capacity and flexibility

Manage route planning and review existing routes for commercial and domestic customers

Schedule and coordinate drivers and crew members based on forecasted peak business levels

Communicate professionally and effectively with team members, drivers, and crew to foster good working relations

Check crews are compliant with site agreements, health and safety standards, and defect reporting

Send updates to drivers as necessary

Input jobs onto transport management systems

Ensure company procedures and quality service are maintained at all times
