Care Network Ireland are currently recruiting a community based Social Care worker to support residents with intellectual disabilities for a client based in Carlow area.
The role is to provide person-centred care to low-maintenance young people (ages 16-18) with intellectual disabilities, focusing on daily living support, engagement, and developing independence in a community or residential setting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Support with basic cooking, cleaning, laundry, and daily routines.
- Encourage independence through participation in household tasks.
- Engage service users in social, educational, or recreational activities.
- Assist with personal care as needed, while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Monitor and report changes in behaviour, mood, or health.
- Keep clear, accurate daily records and communicate with families and team members.
Requirements :
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent).Fluent in English, both written and spoken.Full clean driving licence (if transport is part of the role).Must have valid visa to work in Ireland.Understanding of safeguarding and duty of care principles.Experience working in a care / support setting, preferably with young people or individuals with intellectual disabilities.Strong interpersonal skills - patient, empathetic, and able to build trust.Basic household skills - confident in basic cooking, cleaning, and supporting daily living tasks.Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as part of a supportive team.Knowledge of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum, or behavioural support strategies advantageous.
