Organisation Description :

The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI).

The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland's 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring.

The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.

Summary of the Role :

The successful candidate will work in close cooperation with the core team in PIRS, researchers and colleagues in the Marine Institute (MI) and hold responsibility for delivering a targeted programme of support and infrastructure for pre- and post-award research support with a particular emphasis on research performance, excellence, culture and impact.

The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring MI compliance in light of an expanding range of national and EU research governance and best practice requirements that are mandatory for RPOs.

The Team Lead will work with the MI research community to foster research excellence and impact and in further developing the Marine Institute's research culture as an innovative and creative research environment

The role will require the building of an enhanced suite of pre-award supports to MI researchers in developing research proposals and in the level of training and funding opportunities available to them.

It will also address the other end of the research project life cycle, by working to improve the dissemination and impact of research being undertaken by the Marine Institute.
