Our Client a leader in the aviation industry is seeking an Engineering Project Leader to join their dynamic team in Shannon co. Clare. The Project Leader is responsible for co-ordinating current NPI activity at the company for existing product lines and projects to support New Technologies and Capital Equipment purchase. He / She is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the development and introduction of new products / repairs / projects within the agreed development budget, target product cost levels and scheduled introduction dates. TEAM : Engineering Projects REPORTING TO : Engineering Manager SUPERVISOR / MANAGER TO : Engineering NPI / Project Team Key tasks 1. NPI Gate Process Ensure NPI Project Proposals are reviewed and approved through the company Gate process. Conduct research / collating competitive product information and data to support / prepare new product proposals for Gate Review meetings. As required preparation of Technical & Commercial Feasibility Studies (WiREs) for new product proposals. Update and maintain NPI procedures in line with company requirements. 2. Project Management As necessary prepare or support team in preparing Project Plans for projects, including the project scope, development of budgets and schedules. Establish project team / resource planning for projects. Conduct project reviews with project team and management, ensuring all concerned are updated on progress. Maintain adequate documentation of all aspects of the project. 3. Product Development obtaining repair approval Maintain a good relationship with OEMs on repair approval process. Determine the preferred technology / process equipment for the repair. Support team in following best practice in the introduction of product / repairs. 4. Product / Project Introduction Identify the up-front requirements of all stake holders Production Team, Quality, EH&S, Maintenance, etc. Procure new equipment required for the product introduction in accordance with company procedures. Ensure necessary product information is provided in a timely manner to Commercial to support product launch. Conduct final project review with Operations / Quality / EH&S to close and sign the product transfer to production. Monitor the product cost / profitability for 1st 6 months of production to ensure target costs are achieved. 5. Leadership Provide direction and leadership to team members on assigned projects. Present progress reports for projects against agreed plans at the management review. Liaise with OEMs and EASA Design Organisation to co-ordinate and expedite approval of substantiation packages. Conduct management review upon completion of the project to verify the success of the project against the budget, product cost & schedule and record lessons learned. 6. Other duties as directed by the Engineering Manager. Performance Metrics Preparation of product proposals required for Gate Review meetings on time. Presentation of Project Progress at Biweekly Management Review. Issue of Monthly Report on Activities with Focus on Target Cost, Schedule & Budget. Achievement of Project Schedules. Management of Project costs within Budget. Achievement of Target Product costs for New Products & Projects. Introduction of product into production with the minimum of disruption achieving Operation & Quality sign off within agreed time frame. Effective communication with team members & management Person Specification Qualifications / Skills Minimum Degree level, preferably in Materials, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering. Ability to understand complex processes involving multiple disciplines. Strong analytical / problem solving skills. Disciplined structure approach to defining / qualifying process stability i.e. Lean / 6 Sigma. Strong project leadership & team leadership skills. Competent communication & report writing skills. Experience Minimum of 5 years experience preferably in a Project Management or Engineering Lead role. Proven Project Management experience. Proven track record in problem solving in complex environment. Previous experience in aviation or similar regulated industry a distinct advantage. Flexibility Open minded willingness to embrace new ideas and change. Prepared to put in the required effort to deliver and meet deadlines.
