PwC Ireland is hiring for a Senior Associate in the R&D incentives group within Tax.
The team provides consultancy on R&D incentive programs, including R&D tax credits and RD&I grants, for Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences (PLS) and engineering clients in Ireland.
What we do
Our R&D team works with PLS and engineering clients to prepare and submit R&D tax credit claims to Irish Revenue and grant submissions to the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and Enterprise Ireland (EI).
Key activities include :
Significant engagement with client science and engineering teams to identify projects that may qualify for the R&D tax credit.
Collaborating with client teams to prepare focused R&D incentive documentation and finalise these documents.
Designing processes and methodologies with client teams to leverage systems and data for analysis and reports.
Analyzing and modelling client costs and expenditures related to R&D activities and determining what could be included in claims or grants.
Assisting with the preparation, review and finalisation of financial files related to R&D incentive programs.
The role involves delivering client work programs, developing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, developing business skills, delivering value to clients, and building expertise in R&D incentives.
What does this role offer?
As an R&D Incentives Senior Associate you will work within a dynamic team of about 16 professionals with diverse backgrounds.
You will work on complex assignments with leading-edge clients, from multinationals to Irish start-ups, engaged in R&D projects.
Specific responsibilities
Act as a Key Contributor within the R&D Incentives Group : Own assigned projects, lead preparation and delivery of R&D incentive claims, ensure high-quality outputs and compliance with legislation and PwC standards.
Client Engagement and Relationship Management : Serve as a primary contact for client scientists and engineers, facilitate technical discussions to identify eligible activities, and manage expectations throughout engagements.
Project Delivery and Team Collaboration : Support delivery of R&D incentive programs, coordinate with cross-functional teams, meet deadlines and maintain high client service standards.
Business Development and Service Enhancement : Contribute to opportunities to expand services within existing accounts, assist in proposals and client pitches, and help grow client portfolios.
Mentoring and Team Development : Guide junior team members, review work for quality, and foster an inclusive, knowledge-sharing environment.
Driving Digital Transformation : Promote adoption of digital tools and identify efficiency improvements and innovative solutions for clients.
Professional Development : Drive personal career progression through feedback, training, and goal setting, leveraging PwC resources for technical and leadership growth.
Data Analysis and Insight Generation : Model and analyse client data to develop dashboards and reports that explain the financial impact of R&D incentives.

About you – Key Competencies & Experience
A science or engineering qualification or strong PLS industry background, with finance / business qualifications or experience (finance / business qualification not essential).
Minimum 3–4 years post-qualification experience in industry or professional services.
Strong verbal and written communication, especially in report writing.
Relationship management skills to build quality, diverse connections with internal stakeholders and clients.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Team-oriented with mentoring capabilities.
Ambitious with commitment to self-development and progression.
Energetic and creative, capable of presenting new ideas and solutions to deliver client value.
Strong digital and technical skills.
