Vision Sports Ireland (VSI) is the national governing body for sport and physical activity for people who are blind and vision impaired in Ireland. The Communications & Operations Coordinator will play a key role in leading the marketing and communications strategy for VSI. They will play an instrumental part of the operations team with responsibility for amplifying the importance of sport and physical activity for people who are blind and vision impaired as well as the array of programme offerings provided by VSI. The successful candidate will collaborate with key stakeholders including National Governing Bodies for Sport to coordinate programmes and highlight achievements of VSI members.
Increasing awareness of the health promotion and education offerings will be a key objective to meet actions set out in our strategic plan.
The successful candidate will work closely with the National Sports Development Manager and members of the wider team to build the Vision Sports Ireland brand, promote programmes, initiatives, and partnerships. This candidate should be a highly motivated, creative and innovative professional. The appointee will be responsible for managing social media and website content which have become an integral part of the organisations growth.
Position Vision Sports Ireland as the experts in vision impairment in the field of sport and physical activity.
Provide key input into day-to-day operations of the organisation.
Lead on the execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to promote Vision Sports Ireland services and activities.
Increasing engagement and reach of the organisation's online profile by curating relevant social media content reflecting Vision Sports Irelands activities and that of our partners.
The role will have responsibility for the VSI website and social media platforms along with creating engaging content that increases awareness of the work of Vision Sports Ireland
Working collaboratively with partner organisations to strategically cross-promote activities.
Work closely with Vision Ireland colleagues to embed physical activity as a core programme offering within the wider service.
Work closely with the Vison Sports Ireland team to increase participation numbers in programmes and initiatives.
Monitoring and evaluation of platform analytics.
Coordinate activities and events in collaboration with NGB Partners.
Work as part of a motivated and focused team to service the priorities of Vision Sports Ireland.
Monitoring, updating and evaluation of website and social media analytics, e-newsletter.
Work as part of a team for programme coordination and event management.
Work to develop innovative ways to promote programmes and events.
Continually evaluate and monitor the quality of services provided by Vision Sports Ireland.
Work as part of a team to drive and advance coach education, volunteerism and training opportunities.
Serve and support colleagues as a member of the Vision Sports Ireland Team including, but not limited to, funding applications and reporting obligations.
Contribute to funding, sponsorship activities related to Vision Sports Ireland.
The ideal candidate will hold a third level qualification in marketing/communications, digital content creation, business management, recreation and leisure management or an equivalent.
Proven track record in delivering a communications strategy including report writing.
Experience of creating campaigns for a start-up or large organisation.
Knowledge of the importance of physical activity, sport, community initiatives, and inclusive participation.
Understanding of the sport and physical activity sector, including the role of Local Sports Partnerships, National Governing Bodies, and other key stakeholders.
Willingness to work with Vision Sports Ireland members as well as internal and external partners.

Planning and Coordination Skills
Lead the rollout of a comprehensive communications plan noting key campaigns such as European Week of Sport, World Sight Day etc.
The successful candidate will oversee all marketing and communications operations including promoting services and wider opportunities of interest to people who are blind and vision impaired.
Collaborate with Vision Ireland colleagues and NGB partners for campaigns and resource development.
Hold a third level qualification (minimum degree) in marketing/communications, content creation, sports/leisure management, business/project management or relevant experience.
Experience working in sports sector or marketing/communications.
Experience in bringing innovative thinking and creativity to problem solving complex issues, and sound decision making and judgment.
Excellent Communication Skills (written, oral and presentation).
Passion for physical activity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Strong office IT/Design skills.
Proficient at using social media platforms.
Ability to work as part of a diverse, dynamic and high performing team.
Eligibility to work and reside in Republic of Ireland.
This post is permanent based on a successful 6-month probation and will have hybrid working opportunities.
