Business Analyst

Job Summary The Business Analyst (BA) plays a pivotal role in aligning business objectives with digital and data solutions. This role works closely with stakeholders and to ensure that business needs are clearly understood, effectively translated into technical solutions, and successfully implemented across systems. The BA supports the assigned Digital Integrator (DI) with requirements writing and process mapping, and reports directly to the Digital Ops Associate Director as part of the operational delivery core of DOT. Where assigned, a BA may also hold a named, horizontal Product Owner accountability for a specific platform (e.g. Tulip) see Product Ownership. This is an ongoing accountability for that platform, not limited to individual project phases. Key Responsibilities Requirements & Documentation (RACI: Accountable/Responsible) Gather, analyse, and document business requirements to ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations. Prepare and maintain comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs); review and sign off on prototypes and wireframes. Translate business needs into clear, actionable goals and break down complex requirements into user stories or use cases. Deliver signed-off requirements against the agreed handover date. Process & Stakeholder Analysis (RACI: Responsible) Develop process maps and flowcharts to visualise and optimise business processes to the most granular level of the business problem being solved. Identify, analyse, and create stakeholder maps early in the project lifecycle. Evaluate existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose effective solutions. Backlog & Delivery Support (RACI: Responsible, Consulted with DI) Prioritise user stories and requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and the assigned DI, based on impact and urgency. Participate in daily/weekly stand-ups, manage backlog items, and provide feedback on completed work. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with business users, developers, and project managers. Serve as the point of contact for requirement clarifications and ensure the final product meets user expectations. Testing & Go-Live Lead or support Digital Integrator with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate that solutions meet business requirements and quality standards. Support go-live readiness, user onboarding, and adoption tracking for the platform. Product Ownership (Dual Role) A BA may hold a named, horizontal Product Owner accountability for a specific platform used across multiple functions (Tulip). This is a dual role: the individual retains their primary BA accountabilities while also acting as the named Product Owner for that platform, providing vision, roadmap, and business-side accountability across all functions that use it. Full detail on the Product Owner accountability is set out in the standalone Product Owner job description. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field. Proven experience in Business Analysis, Digital Integration, or a similar hybrid role. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and digital delivery methodologies. Experience with tools such as JIRA, Visio, and data visualisation platforms. Preferred Skills Experience in system integration and digital transformation initiatives. Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma). Strong facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
