Diesel Mechanic
Location: Dublin 12
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our busy waste and recycling operations team in Dublin 12. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic to work with a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles and plant equipment, helping to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of essential waste management services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of diesel-powered HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs when required.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete all relevant maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and workshop procedures.
- Work collaboratively with drivers, fleet management, and workshop colleagues to maximise vehicle availability.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with environmental standards.
Requirements
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent trade certification.
- Previous experience maintaining HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, commercial fleets, or plant machinery.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and braking systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Full, clean driving licence. A Category C or CE licence is an advantage but not essential.
- Strong commitment to health and safety and high-quality workmanship.
