Are you an experienced Structural Steel Estimator looking for a permanent opportunity where you can work on a variety of technically interesting projects?

This is an opportunity to join a growing structural steel specialist delivering fabrication and erection projects across commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre and infrastructure sectors.

You'll play an important role in securing new projects by producing accurate, competitive estimates and working closely with clients, engineers, suppliers and the wider project team throughout the tender process.

The Role

As Structural Steel Estimator, you'll take tender information, drawings and specifications and turn them into accurate costings and competitive tender submissions.

You'll be involved from the initial review of an opportunity through to tender submission and, where successful, the handover into the project delivery team.

This is a varied role for someone who understands both the technical and commercial side of structural steel fabrication and erection.

What You'll Be Doing

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
• Review architectural, structural and fabrication drawings.
• Analyse tender documentation and establish project scope.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities within tenders.
• Complete detailed material take-offs and schedules.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers and clients throughout the tender process.
• Prepare detailed tender submissions within required deadlines.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.
• Support value engineering exercises and identify commercially viable solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, pricing and tender documentation.
• Support the commercial team with project handovers following successful tenders.
• Monitor material pricing and market conditions to ensure estimates remain competitive.
• Manage multiple tenders while working to tight deadlines.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous structural steel estimating experience who understands how steel projects are priced, fabricated and erected.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience estimating structural steel fabrication projects.
• Experience within structural steel or a closely related construction environment.
• Strong ability to interpret structural steel drawings and engineering information.
• Experience preparing detailed tender submissions.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good commercial awareness.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A full driving licence.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

Experience That Would Be an Advantage

It would be beneficial if you also have experience with:

• Estimating software.
• Structural steel fabrication processes.
• Steel erection methodologies.
• Procurement and supply chain management.
• BIM or Tekla drawings.
• Value engineering.
• Working with suppliers and subcontractors.

A third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would also be advantageous.
