Senior Engineer Public Works Project Location : County Tipperary, Ireland Job Type : Full-Time | Permanent Sector : Civil Engineering / Public Infrastructure Salary : Competitive + Benefits Start Date : Immediate / Negotiable About the Role A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the project team on a major public works project in County Tipperary. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of essential civil infrastructure, overseeing technical aspects of the construction process and ensuring works are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee engineering operations on site, reporting to the Project Manager. Coordinate with the design team, subcontractors, and site staff to ensure accurate implementation of plans. Ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications, drawings, and health & safety standards. Carry out setting out, surveys, and as-built records using GPS and other surveying equipment. Manage documentation, including RFI submissions, method statements, and technical submittals. Liaise with local authorities, clients, and consultants to ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. Support junior engineers and site teams with technical guidance and mentoring. Assist in planning, progress tracking, and problem-solving as required on site. Key Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role, ideally on public works or civil infrastructure projects. Strong technical knowledge of civil works including earthworks, drainage, roads, utilities, and concrete structures. Proficient in surveying instruments (Total Station, GPS) and software (AutoCAD, MS Office, project management tools). Strong understanding of Irish building regulations and public works contracts (GCCC desirable). Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and preferably CIF Site Supervisor training. Full driving licence and flexibility to travel within the region. Whats on Offer Competitive salary based on experience.
