Chef II

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Chef II to join our vibrant team at the Mater Private Network in Dublin!

In this role, you will be a vital part of our catering team, preparing and serving high-quality food to our patients, staff, and visitors. You will help ensure that all meals meet strict safety, nutritional, and dietary guidelines while contributing to a smooth, efficient kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities & What You Will Do

• Food Preparation & Service: Provide a high standard of food preparation and service to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring patient dietary needs (including IDDSI Diet Levels and allergen awareness) are strictly met.
• HACCP & Hygiene: Maintain meticulous hygiene standards, adhere to the departmental HACCP plan, complete controlled documentation truthfully, and ensure correct food labelling, storage, and cleaning schedules.
• Stock & Inventory: Manage inventory, rotate stock supplies efficiently, sign in deliveries using correct procedures, and minimise food waste.
• Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate closely with chefs, catering assistants, porters, and nursing teams using communication tools (such as status sheets and the CMA system) to guarantee an exceptional food and beverage service.
• Flexibility & Adaptability: Handle unforeseen changes proactively, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and be available for flexible working hours (including mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays).

Candidate Requirements

• Qualifications & Training: Culinary qualification and a minimum of HACCP Level 1 & 2 training (all required training must be up to date).
• Hygiene & Standards: Exemplary hygiene practices and strict adherence to hospital PPE and uniform policies.
• Skills & Attitude:
• Enthusiasm and a hunger to learn new skills across the department.
• Ability to work independently using your own initiative as well as part of a close-knit team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility: Full flexibility to work across shifts, rosters, and Mater Private Network locations as required.
