Respite Care Assistant
Part Time | 19 Hours weekly | Weekends Included | Permanant Contract
Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).
We provide a wide range of person centred services including residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.
The Role :
The aim of this Unique role is to support people to have a variety of activities based on individual preference within the community with a focus on achieving person centred goals. Supporting the development of social skills is a key part of the role along with community integration utilising local amenities.This is not a traditional residential role. Instead, you will be supporting people to enjoy meaningful experiences within their local communities, develop social connections and increase independence through fun, engaging and person-centred activities.
Cheeverstown Respite Services wish to expand & develop their suite of service to support people to meet socially for evenings & weekends. The aim is to support engagement in chosen activities & offer opportunities to meet friends & people with similar interests.
Activities may include:
- Bowling
- Cinema trips
- Swimming
- Hillwalking
- Museums and cultural events
- Coffee meet-ups and social outings
- Group activities and friendship-building opportunities
- Community events and local amenities
Essential Requirements:
- Full driving licence
- Passion for community inclusion and person-centred supports.
- Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare, Social Care or a relevant qualification appropriate to your grade.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Salary will be paid as per the HSE consolidated pay scales .
