Speech and Language Therapists have specialist skills that are recognised as integral to the respiratory multidisciplinary team. The MMUH SLT Team is expanding and an exciting area of development is in Respiratory Medicine. With increased resource, there is scope to design the service from an inpatient and outpatient perspective. The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will lead and deliver the medical respiratory SLT service in collaboration with Senior and Staff Grade SLTs working in the area. In addition to clinical responsibilities they will be expected to develop the SLT service to patients under the Respiratory and Medical Specialist Teams and the National Isolation Unit as the service demands with a commitment to continuous quality improvement and quality assured patient centred care. They will contribute to the overall operation and development of the communication and swallowing service within the hospital in collaboration with the Speech and Language Therapist Manager and other Speech and Language Therapists within the department.
