We are currently seeking applications from a suitability qualified Basic Grade Occupational Therapist to work in the newly developed inpatient mental health service working alongside a Senior Occupational Therapist and a diverse multidisciplinary team. Represent the Occupational Therapy profession and promote the profile of occupational therapy within the Low Secure Services and throughout the organisation. Demonstrate a proficiency in ability to prioritise referrals according to clinical needs. Facilitate individual and group therapy programmes in line with individuals' assessed needs and evidenced based practice. Collaborate with other relevant multidisciplinary colleagues for complex individual presentation to ensure holistic approach to an individual's care. Communicate oral and written information in a clear, concise and well-structured manner appropriate to the content and the target audience. Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for individuals according to service standards. Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, front line staff, and other healthcare personnel in the team. Ensure the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries are in accordance with local service and professional standards. Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. as designated by the Senior Occupational Therapist Be responsible for adhering to existing standards and protocols and for leading out on the development and maintenance of standards / strategies for quality improvement and outcome measurement. Seek advice and assistance with any assigned duties in line with principles of evidence-based practice and clinical governance. Ensure that professional standards are maintained in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation. Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice in accordance with local and national guidelines. Education and Training Participate in mandatory training programmes. Participate in continuing professional development including in-service training, attending and presenting at conferences / courses relevant to practice, contributing to research etc. as agreed by the Senior Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Manager. Engage in professional clinical supervision with the Senior Occupational Therapist. Participate in performance review with the Occupational Therapy Manager. Participate in group reflective practice.. Health & Safety Promote a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and local policy. Be aware of and implement agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice by adhering to relevant legislation, regulations and standards. Actively participate in risk management issues, identify risks and take responsibility for appropriate action. Report any adverse incidents in accordance with organisational guidelines Administrative Promote good working practice and uniformity of standards of best practice. Contribute to quality by reviewing and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service within the Low Secure Unit regularly, identifying changing needs and opportunities to improve services, in collaboration with the Senior Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Manager, Clinical Director, Director of Nursing and relevant others. Develop and implement service / business plans, quality initiatives, audits etc. and report on outcomes in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist Manager and Senior Occupational Therapist. Collect and evaluate data about the individual group and demonstrate the achievement of the objectives of the service. Oversee the upkeep of accurate records in line with best clinical governance, organisational requirements and the Freedom of Information Act, and render reports and other information / statistics as required. Represent the department / team at meetings and conferences as appropriate. Promote good team working, and a culture that values diversity. Engage in IT developments as they apply to individual and service administration. Keep up to date with developments within the organisation and the Irish Health Service. Perform such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned by the Clinical Director, Director of Nursing or the Senior Occupational Therapist. Or If qualified outside the Republic of Ireland, have their qualification validated by the Department of Health or may be working towards meeting compensatory criteria set up by the Department. Validation letter needs to be included with this application and Nua can support with the provision of adequate supervision to meet any potential compensatory measures. All candidates must meet the registration requirements of the Psychological Society of Ireland. Knowledge : Knowledge of the Judgement Support Framework and experience supporting compliance with same. Skills : Excellent overall demeanour.
