Senior Business Development Underwriter - Insurance

As part of the Business Development Underwriter Team you will join a group of experienced technical experts who underwrite commercial combined, property and liability business focused on public sector or related entities. Working both directly & with Broker partners you will target new business opportunities that are aligned to our risk appetite, engaging with internal stakeholders in Customer, Pricing and Portfolio Management and deliver against agreed targets to support our overall growth strategy. Responsibilities - Profitably underwrite commercial, property and liability insurance submissions for all sectors. - Engage with internal stakeholders in Sales and Distribution, Pricing and Portfolio management to negotiate terms to convert target prospects and conduct detailed risk assessment and acceptance within existing Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) framework agreements. - Partner with colleagues in Sales and Distribution to prospect and win new risks, delivering against agreed performance and service metrics. - Analysis of the portfolio performance of policies for both direct and broker clients including pricing analysis and cover considerations. - Providing informal and formal underwriting training as required and mentor less experienced underwriting team members on market conditions, competitors and relationship management. - Assisting in the day-to-day management of the Property, Liability & Commercial portfolios both direct and broker accounts, including mid-term adjustments and account management. - Underwriting and negotiating Property, Liability and Commercial Combined portfolio products to include risk evaluation, pricing and cover considerations. Your Background Strong experience in general insurance ideally with some exposure to property and liability. CIP or similar relevant qualification Experience in growth, achieving targets in an underwriting environment Experience in a New Business role in commercial or general insurance would be an advantage
