About the team and the role : eBay is seeking a Senior Engineer for their Cloud Databases and Storage organization , which builds and runs a petabyte-scale core data platform that powers large-scale database, storage, caching, and media infrastructure.
This position will have the opportunity to architect, build, and operate the next-generation distributed database and storage platform that powers some of the most critical systems for eBay's global ecommerce business.
You will be responsible for scaling eBay's core data infrastructure by working closely with other engineers, customers, business partners, and product managers.
What you will accomplish : You will be building and managing massively scalable database and storage systems for eBay.
You will collaborate with highly skilled peers to design data infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, storage, and large-scale database systems.
You will work in an agile environment focusing on problem-solving and engineering precision.
As a technical leader, you will assess technology problems, design solutions, and drive implementation to meet business expectations.
You will collaborate closely with Architects, Engineering leaders, and Product Managers to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards.
You will guide junior and senior engineers in building scalable, high-speed, distributed systems and advocate for design and quality standards.
You will contribute to all phases of product development including design, development, testing, release, bug fixes, and documentation.
You should bring new ideas to adapt to technological developments and industry best practices, creating a lasting impact for eBay and its customers.
What you will bring : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science plus 8+ years of experience or MS with 6+ years in building large-scale distributed systems.
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
Experience in architecting, designing, and developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems, storage, and databases.
Hands-on expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Distributed Programming, and proficiency in C++, Java, and various database systems (NoSQL and relational).
Ability to lead architecture discussions, produce design documentation, and participate in reviews.
Commitment to code quality, maintainability, and evolving architecture and tech stacks.
Willingness to share support, release, and on-call responsibilities for a 24x7 operational environment.
