As a Software Engineer at FIRE1, you'll play a key role across the full software development lifecycle—designing and building embedded, mobile & cloud applications, integrating with hardware, and helping to ensure the quality and reliability of our medical-grade systems.
You'll write production code, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and contribute to automated test frameworks that support our regulated development process.
The position involves working with internal firmware / software development teams and external development partners in a cross-functional R&D team spanning Bio-Mechanical, Electronics, Firmware / Software, Data, Clinical, Commercial, Quality / Regulatory, and Manufacturing.
You will work in a regulated R&D environment, ensuring compliance with IEC 62304 and IEC 13485 and contributing to software documentation as required.
Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for medical device software and firmware Perform stabilisation, verification, and validation testing as part of the Design Control process Work closely with R&D and Product Management teams to prioritise and troubleshoot issues Ensure timely documentation submission in the Design History File (DHF) Support cross-functional teams within FIRE1 and external suppliers to enhance product quality Adhere to Quality System procedures throughout the product development cycle Proactively contribute to maintaining and improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) Qualifications & Experience Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Bio-Medical or a related field Demonstratable coding skills, e.g.
in Python, C, Java or similar Understanding of the domains of software development, including embedded, mobile, cloud, backend, frontend.
Understanding of software development eco-systems, e.g.
