About Technical Operations BioMarin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients. Biologics Centre of Excellence (BCoE) Lab Apprenticeship Program2-3 Year ApprenticeshipCommencing Autumn 2026Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, CorkSummary : BioMarin is a high-performing, team-based organization, where colleagues are flexible, multi-skilled and empowered to make decisions. A high level of initiative, energy and motivation are key role requirements, as well as excellent organizational skills. The BCoE Apprentice will serve as an integral member of the BCoE team in a Bioprocess laboratory. The Apprentice will contribute to the safe, enjoyable and collaborative culture within the BCoE lab and will be a key member of the team. Mentorship and guidance will be provided to the apprentice from various team members, including Research Associates, Scientists, Team Leads, Process Stewards and Department Director. The Apprentice will gain an understanding of working in a world class bioprocess manufacturing support function and will gain invaluable skills and experiences that are attractive to any future employer. The BCoE Apprentice will enjoy exposure to the cross-functional nature of the BCoE team, liaising with a variety of teams including the Bioprocessing Lab Team, Commercial Support, Technology Transfer and Analytical Services. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of work, have strong written and verbal communication, troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation, and cross functional networking. The successful candidate will also have good self-awareness, act decisively and be a complete team player. Entry Requirements : For entry into year 1 of the Level 6 / 7 Program applicants must have the following : Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects one of which must be math's and one science related subject 250 CAO points or Successful Level 6 Laboratory Technician Apprentices Candidates with a Level 6 in a related discipline Current employee with relevant experience and qualifications Mature student Before enrolment on the apprenticeship program the apprentice will attend an industry interview and will be approved and registered by SOLAS - these elements will be facilitated by BioMarin and SOLAS Project Manager Responsibilities : Equipment calibration and maintenance Preparing media and buffers for lab projects Managing lab logbooks through their lifecycle Conducting freezer defrosts Tracking and ordering lab consumables Drafting Best Practice Documents and risk assessments Handing GMM waste management Participating in all training and completion of training records required by the supervisor / management Identifying any opportunities for improvement within the BCoE laboratory and associated environments Other duties as assigned. Structure : If successful, the candidate must attend the academic portion of the apprenticeship throughout the 2 year (QC Technician) - 3 year (QC Analyst) apprenticeship program. During the term, the apprentice would work 3 days per week in our high-tech Laboratory, learning on-the-job, while spending 2 contact days per week with the education partner institution during the academic year.
