Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. We are seeking energetic, passionate Social Care Workers to join our residential care teams based in our Services in Cork City, suburbs and Bandon, Co. Cork. Applications are invited for the following post A unique opportunity to work as part of a team using the 'Good Lives Model' Social Care Worker / s Ref : 52 / 2025 Permanent Full-Time hours (78 hours per fortnight) Adult Residential Two Centres within a 20km radius of Cork City A panel may also be formed as a result of this process to fill vacancies as they arise in the coming year The Purpose The person / s appointed to the residential services will be very flexible in their approach to service provision and have the ability to work both on their own initiative and as a member of a team. He / she will work to the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity ensuring the needs of the people supported are being met by them as directed by the Person in Charge. The model of Service will be based on the Good Lives Model. The successful candidate ideally should have a good working knowledge of Clinical Risk Management and in the identified planning systems or in the management of Services for persons with complex / behavioural support needs As a team member, the best interests of each person using our service will be paramount in all discussions. Emphasis will be on forming a team approach involving people supported, families, advocates and staff on all relevant issues. People supported receive an integrated or part integrated service in line with their preference. Reporting to the Social Care Leader / Person in Charge Benefits of working for the Brothers of Charity HSE Salary Scales Access to state pension scheme and National pay awards Part of an experienced dynamic team including Multi-Disciplinary team members Individual Supervision Comprehensive in-house training for all staff Support structure for new staff Free parking onsite Cycle to work scheme Employee Assistance Service (Spectrum Life) Organisation wide social and wellbeing groups and initiatives Professional Qualifications and Experience etc. Candidates must Possess a Diploma or BA (Ord) Degree in Social Care Practice (Level 7 or higher on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework) OR Possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Social Care Worker Registration Board, CORU And Must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers registration board with CORU and obtain such registration by November 2025 and must maintain such registration for the duration of employment in this role Have a suitable standard of professional attainments Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office) Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems for the social care worker post / s Experience A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience of working with persons with an intellectual disability / autism in a Residential setting is essential. Experience of working with Adults with behaviour that challenges is essential. Commitment to the principles of social inclusion and community integration is essential Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility is essential Experience of using alternative communication methods is essential. Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific needs and / or clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is essential. Knowledge of the Good Lives model of service and ARMADILLO risk review process is desirable. Have a full clean Driver's licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as driving of service vehicles is a requirement for this role.
