Financial Controller Reports to : Group CFO Location : Hybrid (home / Dublin city centre office 1-2 days per week) My client is a complex, multi-entity business operating across multiple tax jurisdictions with a €50m turnover and seasonal intensity. The Financial Controller plays a central role in delivering operational excellence in finance : maintaining robust financial control, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and eliminating inefficiency. This is a role for someone who relishes detail, enjoys fixing broken processes, and wants to run a tight ship, not just close the books. Youll support the CFO and work closely with the Managing Directors to make sure the numbers are right, the cash is protected, and the finance engine is running cleanly. Key Responsibilities Core Financial Operations Oversee and improve all transactional finance activities : AP, AR, credit control, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close. Maintain and document robust financial controls, continuously tightening the system. Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts for group entities. 2. Cashflow & Treasury Maintain and update short-term cashflow models. Oversee daily cash management and banking operations, ensuring liquidity is always in view. 3. Budgeting & Forecasting Support Work with MDs to gather accurate product-level cost and revenue data across hundreds of SKUs. Build and maintain robust forecasting templates in Google Sheets or other tools. Consolidate outputs for CFO review and group-level presentation. 4. Tax, Audit & Compliance Ensure timely and accurate tax submissions (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax). Coordinate statutory audit preparations, resolve queries, and liaise with auditors. 5. Lean Process & Systems Improvement Actively eliminate waste from finance processes - from duplicate inputs to manual workarounds. Lead by example in using systems (finance, payroll, booking, banking) to their fullest. Document improvements and support others in adopting them - we host best practice visits, and this role must embody why. 6. Team Leadership Line-manage two experienced finance team members : plan workload, coach where needed, uphold standards. Promote a culture of discipline, clarity, and continuous improvement in the team. Experience Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with 5+ years post-qualification experience, including time in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance role in an SME / mid-sized company Prepared and delivered management accounts across multiple entities Familiar with short-term cashflow forecasting, supplier payments, and reconciliations Led or contributed to budgeting / forecasting processes at a detailed level Expert user of Excel and / or Google Sheets Able to structure models incorporating input separation, error-proofing, and logic checks Salary : €90 to €100k + 20% bonus and other benefits.
