Reporting to the Manager, Programme Support, the Programme Department Assistant (PDA) provides vital support to programme personnel working on location filming, studios and outside broadcast programmes.

We currently have one part-time ongoing PDA vacancy (30 hours) , and one full-time, 2 year contract PDA vacancy, which requires fluency as Gaeilge.

We intend to also create a casual panel to cover absences and short-term vacancies within RTÉ Television and to fill ongoing vacancies which may arise during the lifetime of the panel. Fluency in the Irish Language is not required for the part time vacancy or panel opportunities.

All roles will involve irregular working hours over 7 days; therefore, full flexibility is an essential requirement.

About the role :

  • Providing administration support for programme productions.
  • Facilities bookings.
  • Organising travel, payments and accommodation for contributors and crew.
  • Managing production diaries and schedules.
  • Inputting scheduling information.
  • Archive searching and upkeep of research databases.
  • Completing cue sheets and updating the transmission system using Mediaflex and WON.
  • Updating programme information on webpages.
  • Working with Online / Digital Lab where required as shoot co-ordinator.
  • Media wrangling / triaging prior to footage ingest.

About you :

  • 2+ years’ administration experience, along with 1+ years’ experience working in a television production environment or similar.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to organise.
  • Excellent computer skills and the flexibility to support a constantly changing environment.
  • Broad range of interests, proven administrative and organisational skills together with the ability to prioritise and work on their own initiative.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to use initiative and make decisions and work sometimes under pressure.
  • Professional experience and an excellent understanding of the various media platforms including podcasting, Epic, Clipper etc.

    The full-time appointment will be made at the Programme Department Assistant grade and is being offered on a fixed term, 2 year contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from €30,230 to €46,723 gross per annum.

    The part-time appointment will be made at the Programme Department Assistant grade and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from €14.05 to €21.72 per hour. This role requires fluency in the Irish language; however, it will also work across English language productions.

    Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel will be offered a casual / irregular fixed-term contract, and paid on the Programme Department Assistant salary scale from €14.05 to €21.72 per hour.
