Job Title : Tender Engineer
We are hiring for our client, a well-established leader in the switchgear industry, who is seeking a skilled Tender Engineer to join their team.
This Tender Engineer role is an excellent opportunity for a technically qualified Engineer looking to move away from a purely technical role into a more client-facing position.
Working closely with the Sales Director, you'll use your engineering expertise to review client requirements, prepare accurate and competitive quotation documentation, and play a key part in securing business within mission-critical low-voltage switchgear projects.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of assigned switchgear tender processes, from enquiry through to tender submission
Review customer specifications, documents, and drawings to ensure compliance with tender requirements
Prepare detailed and precise switchgear project quotations and tender documents
Work closely with the Sales Director to align proposals with customer needs
Collaborate with colleagues across teams for material and labour requirements
Update internal pricing and design templates to reflect industry developments and best practices
Maintain regular communication with customers to clarify requirements and provide timely updates
Follow up proactively on quoted projects
Ensure accurate completion of internal documentation and adherence to procedures
Keep up to date with industry standards (IEC, BS, EN), trends, and health & safety requirements
Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, tidy workspace
Qualifications
Engineering qualification (Degree or Electrical Trade)
Technical understanding of switchgear is highly desirable
Experience working on tenders exceeding €5 million in sectors like pharmaceutical, industrial, or data centres is an advantage
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with clients and colleagues
Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet bid deadlines under pressure
Fluent English with exceptional written and verbal communication
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP Business One experience is beneficial
Eligible to work in Ireland (valid work permit if required); full driving licence is an advantage
