Job description

Job Title : Senior Electrical Engineer

Location :  Dublin 2

Type : Full-time, Permanent

About the Role : We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary building services consultancy team in Ireland. The successful candidate will lead electrical design projects across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, and industrial. This is a client-facing role involving project leadership, mentoring of junior engineers, and close collaboration with other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage electrical building services design on multiple projects, from concept to completion.
  • Prepare detailed electrical designs, specifications, and schedules (LV systems, lighting, power, fire alarms, data, etc.).
  • Carry out site inspections, surveys, and testing / commissioning support as required.
  • Ensure compliance with current Irish and EU building regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors.
  • Represent the company at client meetings and provide technical leadership.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and review their work.
  • Provide input into project planning, resource allocation, and fee proposals.
  • Drive sustainable and energy-efficient design practices including Part L and NZEB compliance.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Level 8 minimum).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical design within a consultancy or engineering firm.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, IEC standards, and CIBSE design guides.
  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), Dialux / Relux, Amtech, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage client relationships.
  • Proven experience in delivering projects to BIM Level 2 is a plus.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel to client / project sites across Ireland if needed.
