Data Scientist / Data Lakehouse Specialist

Freelance Data Scientist / Data Lakehouse Specialist - Solution Design & Implementation We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist / Data Lakehouse Specialist with Architect-level expertise to take a lead role in the design and client-side implementation of a Lakehouse solution. This role will suit a senior consultant who combines strong technical depth with the ability to work directly with stakeholders, drive solution architecture, and guide delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and architecture of a scalable, cloud-based Lakehouse solution. Work client-side, collaborating with both Business and IT stakeholders throughout the implementation project. Drive data strategy by enhancing data collection and ensuring integrity of structured and unstructured data sources. Apply machine learning methods to develop predictive systems, optimize classifiers, and support analytics-driven business solutions. Analyse large, complex datasets to uncover insights, patterns, and actionable outcomes. Present solutions and management information in a clear, business-friendly manner. Provide thought leadership around AI / Generative AI opportunities and practical applications. Required Skills & Experience Data Mining & Wrangling skilled in extracting, cleansing, validating, and processing complex datasets. Programming strong knowledge of R, Python, SQL; familiarity with C#, Scala, Java, or C++ an advantage. Cloud Lakehouse Technologies proven experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Azure Fabric, AWS Redshift, or AWS Lake Formation. Machine Learning & AI hands-on experience developing ML models and working with Generative AI tools (e.g. OpenAI, Azure OpenAI). Mathematical & Analytical Acumen strong background in applied mathematics and statistical modelling. Collaboration ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including senior business stakeholders. Lifecycle Management solid understanding of Git source control, branching, and merging in technical product delivery. Data Visualisation experience presenting findings through visual tools to engage business users effectively. What Were Looking For A strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise.
