Job Title : Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) : Location : Dublin Airport Campus (Hybrid minimum 2 days onsite) Contract : Initial 90 days with potential extension Overview : Daa Labs is seeking a skilled Cloud DBA to support the management and optimisation of cloud-native databases deployed in Microsoft Azure.
The role requires close collaboration with the DBA Manager, Cloud Engineering, Digital Development, Dev Ops, Security, and Analytics teams to ensure high availability, performance, and compliance of daas cloud database services.
Key Responsibilities : Implement and automate database backup processes, including reporting and restoration testing.
Develop, document, and test disaster recovery (DR) plans with defined recovery objectives.
Set up monitoring dashboards, alerts, and conduct regular reviews with stakeholders.
Perform regular health checks covering performance, storage, backups, and security.
Analyse and tune database queries / code for performance improvements.
Conduct security and compliance audits, implement encryption, and review database access.
Provision and scale database resources, documenting changes and recommendations.
Support Dev Ops and CI / CD pipelines with automated deployments and schema updates.
Maintain documentation and deliver knowledge transfer / training to internal teams.
Provide continuous improvement recommendations on process, technology, and cost savings.
Required Skills & Experience : Proven experience as a DBA or Database Developer in an Azure cloud environment.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with Azure SQL or similar (My SQL, Postgre SQL, Cosmos DB, No SQL).
Hands-on experience with cloud-native database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database).
Strong SQL code optimisation experience.
Solid knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure and services.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) tools such as Terraform.
Experience with Agile, Dev Ops, and CI / CD pipelines (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Jira).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of monitoring / observability tools and security best practices.
