Job Title : Staff Grade Psychologist Adult Mental Team Location : Birr Co Offaly Contract Type : Six month contract to begin Role : Fulltime, Monday to Friday, 35 hour week Salary : HSE Aligned Pay Scales Excel Recruitment are excited to be recruiting Staff Grade Clinical Psychologists on behalf of an Adult Mental Health Team in Birr, Co. Offaly. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team providing evidence based, recovery focused psychological care to adults experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. Job Purpose The Staff Grade Psychologist will provide high-quality psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions for adults referred to the Adult Mental Health Service. The post-holder will work as part of an MDT to support recovery, enhance wellbeing, and reduce the impact of mental health difficulties on service users and their families. Key Responsibilities : Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including clinical interviews, psychometric testing, and structured observations. Formulate psychological understanding of clients' difficulties, drawing on a range of theoretical models. Provide individual and group-based therapeutic interventions (e.g. CBT, DBT-informed approaches, ACT, schema therapy, psychoeducation). Support clients in developing recovery-focused goals and treatment plans. Deliver family and carer support sessions, when appropriate. Contribute to MDT case discussions, care planning, and clinical decision-making. Provide consultation and psychological input to colleagues within the MDT. Engage in risk assessment and management, ensuring safe and appropriate clinical practice. Maintain high standards of clinical documentation in line with HSE and professional guidelines. Participate in service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development of mental health programmes and pathways within the service. Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and clinical supervision. Eligibility Criteria : A Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology. Eligibility for professional registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or relevant body. Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment and evidence-based therapeutic interventions with adults presenting with a broad range of mental health difficulties (e.g. mood disorders, psychosis, trauma, personality disorders, anxiety). Strong clinical formulation and therapeutic planning skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an MDT and autonomously where required. Commitment to service user-centred, recovery-oriented practice A full driver's licence and access to transport, as travel may be required within the catchment area.
