Senior Occupational Therapist Practice Tutor 0.5 WTE 17.50Hrs Location : The post holder will be based in The Royal Hospital Donnybrook but will also be expected to utilise work space / offices in Trinity College Dublin as required. Accountable To : The Occupational Therapy Manager, in The Royal Hospital Donnybrook Health A successful applicant must be in such state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of rendering regular and efficient service. Qualifications Educational Qualifications A candidate for and any person holding the post must hold : Bachelor of Science [Honours] in Occupational Therapy Recognised and validated qualification in Occupational Therapy from abroad CORU Registered Have three years post graduate experience as a qualified OT Character : Any person holding this post must be of good character Hours of Work : The post is for 17.5 hours per week Principal Duties and Responsibilities : Carry out and develop the role of the Clinical Tutor in liaison with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring quality and efficiency of practice education. Participation in the development of practice education curriculum in collaboration with The Royal Hospital Donnybrook and Trinity College Dublin. Co-ordination of and preparation for practice education between The Occupational Therapy Manager in The Royal Hospital Donnybrook and Trinity College Dublin. Organisation of relevant tutorial, group and peer learning activities for students while on practice placement in The Royal Hospital Donnybrook. Assisting student in preparing learning contracts at the start of each placement. Assist, advise and support practice educators on assessment issues in relation to student performance. Provision of on-going feedback to students about their performance in collaboration with practice educators. Participation in the clinical supervision of students during client intervention, in collaboration with senior and basic grade occupational therapists. Provision of support for student case studies, where appropriate. Contribution to practice preparation and integration at Trinity College Dublin. Provision of support to practice educators by organising continued professional development activities related to practice education. Deliver specialist lectures relevant to the Clinical Tutors area of practice as required in Trinity College Dublin. Collaboration with Trinity College Dublin Practice Co-ordinators in the provision of education courses for practice educators. Participation in Trinity College Dublin Education Committee if required. Development and participation in the Practice Tutors Network. Participate in research relating to the Clinical tutor Model in collaboration with other tutors and Trinity College Dublin. Service Delivery : Compliance with all of The Royal Hospital Donnybrook Hospital policies, guidelines and procedures. Co- ordination and participation in the in-service training programme within The Royal Hospital Donnybrook. Ensure the safety of self, others and the maintenance of the environment and equipment used in the workplace in accordance with Health and Safely Acts and Hospital Policy and Guidelines. Ensure client and student confidentiality is maintained at all times. Advise Occupational Therapy Manager of materials and maintenance requires with the service. Contribute to the Occupational Therapy Department developments in conjunction with other OTs and OT Manager. Engage in supervision with the Occupational Therapy Manager. Engage in Departmental Audits. Ensure that Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice are maintained Prepare annual report in relation to the role of Practice Tutor in conjunction with Trinity College Dublin. Information and Technology : To make the most effective and efficient use of developments in information technology for the practice tutor role. To monitor and keep up to date with evidence based practice within Occupational therapy and all other relevant matters to ensure maintenance of knowledge and skill base in order to facilitate contemporary professional practice. Evidence of on going CPD will be required. Health and Safety : To be familiar with and adhere to all hospital policies and practices and the Health and Safety at Work Act. To work in a safe manner with due care and attention to safety of self and other authorised persons in the work place and ensure student on practice placement or informed of hospital policies and procedures. To report immediately any accidents or incidents involving patients, staff or members of the public to the Occupational Therapy Manager. Closing date 10th February 2025 @ 5pm.
