Quantity Surveyor. Remote Office Location - Flexible Hybrid working environment. Office and site visits as required. Ideal candidate will live within easy access of Dublin as there will be a requirement for site visits weekly or bi-weekly. Client Profile Our client is an international cost management consultancy with a considerable and growing project portfolio in Ireland. Originally this work was serviced from the UK however having grown the work to a sufficient level they made the decision to establish a presence in Ireland. This hire will be their second QS / Cost hire in Ireland and the successful candidate will be in an excellent position to assist in the development of business unit as it grows and take an active part in shaping it going forward. The clients they are working with in Ireland are established clients with the company dating back over 20 years and the establishment of the Irish operation is supported by these clients. There is a significant and demonstrable pipeline of work that we can discuss with potential candidates to offer any reassurances that might be required in relation to the sustainability of the role going forward. Location wise, our clients have an open mind, however, a significant amount of the work is in the greater Dublin area, and being able to reach Dublin comfortably would likely be preferred. There are also regional projects (Connacht and Munster) and the ability to attend monthly progress meetings may also be required. The role offers a chance to get away from some of the more mundane aspects of quantity surveying. A larger proportion of the work procured on a design and build basis and where more traditional procurement methodologies are used any bill work is likely to be managed by other parts of the business or supply chain. We are looking for a QS with a pre and post contract experience on large scale development projects. This role will suit someone who can challenge the status quo, interrogate cost data, lead value engineering exercises and understands the difference between cost and value. A key part of the role is keeping the stakeholders up to date with and aware of development cost performance / trends and likely future cost variances and patterns. As this appointment will represent the company to its clients, we are seeking a confident communicator who can build and nurture relationships in person. The ideal candidate is comfortable picking up the phone and engaging directly, as well as holding their own in meetings with senior executives. Sample overview of the responsibilities : Strategic Planning / Early-Stage Feasibility / Site Acquisition Producing high level Order of Magnitude Estimates and Development Budgets High level cash flow forcasts Participating in multi disciplined project team meetingsand providing advice on cost and value management Planning and Detailed Design and Procurement Overseeing and liaising with the external Contractors and Consultants Reviewing external Contractor cost estimates, bills of quantities and other cost submissions Tender return evaluation and analysis. Providing advice on cost and value management Assisting in producing Development Budgets for projects Detailed analysis of tender returns. Interface with Investment / Design / Procurement / Asset Management Teams Project Delivery Overseeing costs and liaising with the client, external project management and contractor teams Reviewing variations and payment recommendations Managing the Development Budget, cash flow and monthly expenditure on projects Attending Cost Management meetings with the client and contractors and monthly site visits Generally assisting the client Development teams as required Generally Maintaining live costs data base to assist the ongoing development and financial appraisals process.
