Our client,

a public sector body , are recruiting  Sustainability Engineers to join their Capital and Estates department in South Dublin.

The post holder will have full accountability for Climate Action and Sustainability services within the assigned region. Collaborating closely with the local Energy Officer, the Regional Sustainability Officer will be responsible for coordinating with staff and Green Teams, managing allocated budgets, executing projects, and overseeing all aspects of estate management within the region, with a focus on Climate Action and Sustainability, including green environments, water conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable infrastructure.

This is an initial 1-year contract role which offers great scope for extension and future permanency.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Capital Projects : Lead minor and major capital works, especially those related to energy efficiency and carbon reduction. This includes budget preparation, project planning, contractor selection, and procurement compliance
  • Providing Technical Support : Offer expertise on energy-efficient design and maintenance for buildings and equipment, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and regulations.
  • Collaborating on Property Management : Work closely with property managers to develop energy and carbon reduction strategies, align with regulatory standards, and conduct infrastructure assessments.
  • Sustainability Initiatives : Support water conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable energy initiatives, collaborating with Green Teams and Energy Officers to achieve long-term environmental goals.
  • Ensuring Safety and Compliance : Implement health, safety, and fire prevention protocols in collaboration with relevant safety officers, and manage environmental risks.
  • Requirements

    Hold a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) major academic award in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Sustainable Energy Engineering accredited by the relevant Professional Institute being Engineers Ireland.

    Have Membership of the relevant professional association : Engineers Ireland.

    Have had at least five years’ satisfactory experience in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, including adequate experience in the design, project management and construction of buildings or in the installation or maintenance of the mechanical, electrical and heating services of such buildings.
