What you can expect in a typical day
The role of the E&I Reliability Engineer is to provide technical assistance to the Reliability Group and other departments on matters concerning E&I equipment.
This role will have input into all stages of equipment from design to end of life.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental standards and European directives.
Actively participate in refinery safety programs and promote safe working practices.
Support the development and implementation of the site Reliability Strategy.
Contribute to reliability steering committees and working groups.
Assist in condition monitoring of electrical rotating equipment and instrumentation.
Identify bad actors and performance gaps using data-driven analysis and predictive technologies.
Maintain and review critical spare parts lists based on asset criticality, lead times, and cost.
Support maintenance planning teams to meet annual backlog targets and incorporate repair methodologies
Conduct root cause analysis on repetitive failures and engineer long-term solutions.
Collaborate with OEMs to upgrade or modify equipment and eliminate reliability issues.
Lead reliability initiatives for field instrumentation, control valves, analysers, and control systems (DCS, PLC, SIS).
Develop and maintain standards for calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and analysers.
Provide technical input to capital projects and Turnaround teams to ensure alignment with refinery standards.
Support ATEX periodic inspection programs and ensure compliance with IECEx and hazardous area regulations.
Contribute to the development and management of Reliability Operating Limits (ROLs) and participate in committee activities.
Assist in developing and delivering training programs focused on reliability practices.
Share technical expertise across departments to build competency in electrical and instrumentation reliability.
Promote the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance using risk identification and predictive technologies.

Education and Experience
Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
ATEX Compex EX01–EX04 certification.
5+ years of experience in instrumentation, analysers, and control systems within refining or heavy industry.
Experience with DCS, PLC, SIS systems and field instrumentation.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
