The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) has announced its fifth annual Seafarers’ Conference. It will be held on 19 March 2026 at the NMCI campus in Ringaskiddy in Cork Harbour.

The announcement was made in Quilty, Co. Clare by Timmy Dooley T.D., Minister of State with responsibility for the Marine.

The conference will bring together Government departments, maritime industry stakeholders, the supply chain workforce, and education providers.

This year’s theme is a “digital ocean economy” driven by skills, data and technology. Sessions will cover artificial intelligence’s impact on seafaring, maritime data, and future skills demands.

“Artificial Intelligence will bring both advantages and challenges,” Minister Dooley said. “The Seafarer’s Conference will provide an important educational opportunity for seafarers.”

Dr Paul Hegarty, Head of College at NMCI, said the event will explore how data, technology and people will shape the future of seafaring. He said the college is proud to host Ireland’s maritime stakeholders.

Delegates can attend in person or online. Registration links are available on Eventbrite.

Main sponsors include Munster Technological University, NMCI Training Services, and the Irish Naval Service. Supporters include Greentech Skillnet, the Irish Maritime Development Office, EirGrid, Skipper Magazine, and the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.
