We're seeking a Senior Policy Manager to lead our EU policy initiatives and help shape the regulatory landscape for privacy-enhancing technologies. This role will be instrumental in advancing OpenMined's mission by engaging with EU policymakers, contributing to regulatory frameworks, and ensuring our technical solutions align with evolving privacy regulations while supporting our global infrastructure deployment strategy.
Responsibilities
Policy Strategy & Advocacy
- Develop and execute OpenMined's EU policy strategy, focusing on network-sourced AI and distributed privacy-preserving infrastructure
- Monitor and analyze EU legislative developments including but not limited to the AI Act, Data Act, DSA / DMA and GDPR implementation
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in the European Commission, European Parliament, and member state governments
- Represent OpenMined in policy forums, consultations, and working groups
- Build coalitions with privacy-tech companies, research institutions, and civil society organizations to advance common policy goals
Regulatory Compliance & Guidance
Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for our technical teamsEnsure OpenMined's tools and frameworks align with EU data protection and AI governance requirementsDevelop policy briefs and position papers on emerging regulatory issuesSupport OpenMined’s community in understanding regulatory implications for privacy-preserving technologiesCross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to inform technical development and infrastructure investment decisions, as well as operationalize policy strategyPartner with the Education team to develop policy-related educational contentCollaborate with internal and community researchers to translate technical innovations into policy recommendationsCoordinate with global policy colleagues to ensure consistent messaging and approachSupport Leadership in developing policy-informed partnership frameworks and deployment strategiesThought Leadership

Required Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in EU technology policy, with deep expertise in data protection and AI governanceStrong understanding of EU legislative processes and regulatory frameworksProven track record of successful policy advocacy and stakeholder engagementExperience translating between technical and policy communitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional EU languages are a plusDeep commitment to privacy, open-source, and democratizing access to AIWillingness to travelPreferred Qualifications
