Purchaser / Buyer (Construction Materials) A well-established construction contractor in Cork is seeking an experienced Purchaser / Buyer for a permanent role with a flexible salary based on experience. The Purchaser / Buyer will manage the procurement of construction materials across multiple projects, working with project managers, quantity surveyors, and site teams to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing. This role suits a proactive Buyer with strong negotiation skills and a strategic approach to purchasing. Role : Responsible for purchasing and sourcing all construction-related materials for ongoing and upcoming projects. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate best pricing and terms Coordinate with site and project teams to ensure timely delivery Monitor stock levels and conduct regular stock takes; maintain communication with site teams and QS on material usage and inventory. Obtain product certification and documentation (e.g., DOPs) to ensure compliance with BCAR and other regulatory requirements Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, pricing trends, and material lead times. Track and record material costs and procurement activity Support and mentor junior buyers or procurement assistants, ensuring continuous development in the role. Requirements : 5+ years experience in a Buyer / Purchaser role within construction or building materials supply Background with a contractor, developer, or builders merchant preferred Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains Excellent negotiation and organisational skills Familiar with BCAR and material compliance requirements Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
