Job Description : We are currently seeking to recruit a Fuel Contracts Negotiator.
The Fuel Contracts Negotiator reports into the Forward Trading Desk Head.
The Forward Trading Team consists of the Forward Trading Desk Head, 5 traders, 1 Originator, and the Fuel Contract Negotiator.
The desk is actively involved in wholesale energy trading in the UK, European, and Irish markets.
The primary functions include hedging the gross margin for ESB's thermal and renewable generation fleet, procurement of physical fuel supply, and conducting day-to-day trading activities in line with trading strategies.
Responsibilities include asset optimization, fuel procurement, and power hedging activities.
Key Responsibilities Ensure timely delivery of suitable fuels to ESB generation fleet.
Stay updated on current trends and developments in relevant areas.
Maintain knowledge and skills to perform all duties effectively.
Support team achievement and contribute to team development.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.
Develop a diverse range of counterparties with different coal sources.
Coordinate with Moneypoint on coal quality, specifications, and stock levels.
Manage shipment logistics, including vessel nomination and port arrangements.
Negotiate coal contracts, including spot and term, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with ESB legal on contracts.
Develop expertise in physical coal markets and their drivers.
Negotiate CIF and FOB contracts, including freight considerations.
Coordinate with insurance providers for coverage.
Work with Treasury and Back Office on payments and FX requirements.
Engage with Shannon Foynes Port Authority on safety and tug rates.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience At least 5 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience in contract negotiations.
Strong understanding of the I-SEM market.
Highly numerate.
Experience managing stakeholders.
Experience in front-line trading and operations.
Qualifications Third-level qualification with a strong quantitative, financial, or economics background, or equivalent work experience, is required.
