Job Details Role Requirements Role Requirement 1 Coordination Support the development and implementation of a national plan for Irish-medium provision in early learning and care Lead, mentor and coordinate a team with expertise in Early Learning and Care and Irish-Medium provision supporting the implementation of Irish language in English-Medium settings and immersion education in Irish-medium settings Oversee the delivery of linguistically and culturally responsive mentoring to Irish-Medium settings Oversee the implementation of the Content Language and Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach, laying out all aspects of the work for the year, with flexibility to respond to sector needs.
Engage with other organisations (including CCCs, Irish language organisations, VCOs) to support the delivery of actions Support the development and implementation of training and CPD opportunities for Early Years Educators and mentors in Irish language, second language acquisition, immersion education.
Work effectively across Better Start, engaging with National Team Leaders, Team leaders and Early Years Specialists Link with CCCs to support Irish focussed communities of professional practice and work effectively with educators and setting leaders / managers Role Requirement 2 Management and Reporting In collaboration with the SDP National Manager, National Team Lead and Key stakeholders establish and ensure the quality and consistency of service delivery and reporting.
As the programme develops, the role may involve management of a team to support existing work and aligned to new or emerging areas of work.
Responsible for the line management of staff, allocations, CPD development and professional supervision across a team Manage the collation of data at required intervals in required formats and publish reports and thematic reviews on the work of the service Ensure effective data capture on the needs, challenges and progress of Irish-medium settings and Irish language across English-medium settings National reporting on Irish-medium quality development trends and impact Identity gaps in supports, training and resources for Irish medium settings Support the development and implementation of a monitoring and evaluation framework.
Support the work of the Inter Departmental monitoring mechanisms Conduct surveys / thematic studies on programme outcomes / identified themes.
Ensure the programme delivery reflects a strong commitment to service excellence, customer care and Better Start Code of Ethics Engage in professional support and supervision with line manager Role Requirement 3 Networking Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and influencing skills to effectively engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Liaison, relationship development and briefings with early years professionals in other disciplines and agencies such as the Child & Family Agency -Tusla, the Department of Education and Youth, National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, City and County Childcare Committees, Irish language organisations, Voluntary Childcare Organisations as relevant to the role Participation in key structures and working groups as led by DCDE and other relevant Government departments and relevant agencies Attendance at conferences / seminars as a representative of Better Start Role Requirement 4 Programme Development In collaboration with the SDP National Manager and National Team Lead, manage new developments and changing work practices and the effective implementation of these changes.
Support the development and implementation of a national validation scheme for Irish-medium settings, including a self-evaluation approach.
Support the integration of quality and inclusion practice in relation to the Irish language.
Support the development and implementation of quality assurance processes.
Work with the team on the implementation of change and organisational development.
Any other duties within the general requirement of this job description which may be required from time to time as the programme develops and expands.
Required Experience Minimum 5 years' post qualifying experience.
Experience of delivering education and training programmes to adults and developing training content in Irish language Fluent in Irish Language both written and spoken.
High standard of written and spoken Irish (Level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), e.g.
Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge at Level B2 with a merit at least, or B.
A.
Hons Degree in Irish), or equivalent standard.
Relevant and significant experience in the Irish-medium ELC or SAC sector or in support services for the sector.
In-depth understanding of the aims, approach, development needs and challenges of the Irish-medium ELC and SAC sector and of L1 (Irish as first language) and L2 (Irish as second language) Irish-speakers Understanding and experience of social inclusion and disability issues.
Evidence of the production of high-quality reports and written material.
Proficient in MS packages e.g., Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, programme databases, Share Point portal.
Qualifications Minimum third level qualification at level 8 (or equivalent) on the National Framework of Qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care / or an equivalent professional qualification.
Drivers licence with suitable means of transport.
