Person in Charge

PIC - Respite Service - Kildare - €70,000 FRS Recruitment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Person in Charge to join a new respite intellectual disability service based in Kildare. Its vision is delivered through its core values of client - centres services, committed to being and doing the best for their service users, staff and organisation. The PIC will be responsible for the overall management, safety, and quality of care in the respite service. They will also ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, support staff, and maintain a safe, supportive environment for residents. In your new role you will : Oversee day-to-day operations of the residential service. Manage staff rotas, performance, and professional development. Lead by example in promoting dignity, respect, and person-centred care. Ensure care plans are up to date, accurate, and person-centred. Monitor the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents. Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly. Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory standards. Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Keep accurate records and report to regulatory bodies as required. Provide guidance, supervision, and ongoing training for staff. Foster a positive, collaborative working environment. Address staff concerns or grievances professionally. Liaise with residents, families, health care professionals, and inspectors. To be a successful candidate you will have : Recognised Level 8 qualification in health or social care and registered with CORU. Level 6 in Management. Minimum of 3 year's experience in a supervisory or management role in Respite setting. Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and care standards (HIQA, safeguarding policies). Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
