Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior SHQ Consultant with a proven track record in delivering diverse projects and programs.
The successful candidate will lead and / or support the Safety, Health & Quality team in project delivery in Ireland, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and internal quality procedures.
The role involves acting as the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), providing SHQ consultancy services, conducting inspections / audits, and offering expert technical advice to clients.
The candidate should be capable of leading projects, managing time effectively, contributing to internal procedures, and mentoring junior staff.
Key responsibilities include :
PSDP
Preparing and submitting project AF1
Verifying safety file information and ensuring availability to the design team
Coordinating safety aspects across design disciplines
Preparing Preliminary Safety and Health Plans
Contributing to health and safety requirements in tender documentation
Agreeing with clients on Safety File contents and format
Participating in design and progress meetings throughout project lifecycle
Coordinating temporary works among designers
Preparing and submitting Safety Files upon project completion
SHQ Consultancy
Conducting inspections and audits, reporting to clients
Reviewing and commenting on safety documentation such as Safety & Health Plans, Emergency Plans, Risk Assessments, Temporary Works, and Lift Plans
Reviewing statutory inspection records
Attending RAMS reviews, high-risk workshops, and meetings
Participating in accident and incident reviews and reporting causation
Providing expert advice on HSE requirements
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of Irish safety, health, and environmental legislation and construction best practices
Knowledge of ISO45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
Familiarity with various construction projects and associated safety issues
Problem-solving skills with analytical and diagnostic abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation and meeting leadership
Ability to prepare inspection reports and conduct statistical analyses
Assertiveness, fairness, and consistency in enforcing requirements
Ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
Commercial awareness and business development skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Full Irish driving license
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or similar from a recognized institution
Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience
Membership of a recognized professional body is preferred
