POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER - DEPARTMENT OF DIGITAL HUMANITIES

23 Months, Fixed-Term, Whole-time Post Position Summary The role supports 'Minimal Curation : Minimal Computing for Sustainable Digital Cultural Heritage', a joint project of UCC's Department of Digital Humanities and MTU's Nimbus Research Centre. The appointee will contribute to research, design, and dissemination of low-resource digital tools for cultural heritage preservation. Key tasks include coordinating a national survey of digital heritage practices, assisting with prototype development for community-driven archives, and preparing open-access toolkits and publications. The post involves interdisciplinary collaboration across digital humanities, sustainability, and computing, with regular engagement with cultural partners and community stakeholders. The position suits a researcher with experience in digital humanities, cultural heritage, HCI, or related fields, strong project-management skills, and an interest in equitable, energy-efficient digital infrastructure. A track record of publishing in respected academic journals is essential. Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.
