Job description

Your new company

Our client is considered one of the safest and most modern renewables-ready gas networks in the world. This organisation has a strong legacy and a culture founded on pride, making sure they are keeping Ireland's energy moving. Almost 725,000 Irish homes and businesses trust our client to provide efficient and reliable energy to meet their heating, cooking, manufacturing and transport needs.

Your new role

Reporting to a senior Supply Chain Lawyer on the legal team, the Supply Chain Lawyer will be working on a wide variety of agreements to procure goods and services. The Supply Chain Lawyer should ideally have a working knowledge of procurement legislation and strong commercial contract law experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting the legal team and the business in providing in-house legal advice for all supply chain contract and procurement matters, including construction contracts.
Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and updating various tender documents, standard forms and bespoke contracts.
Managing and supporting third-party specialists, including external lawyers, to deliver required business outcomes.
Identifying areas of potential legal risk, developing reporting structures in relation to those risks and conducting reviews where required.
Promoting legal awareness and communicating to the business when legal input should be sought.
Delivering in-house training on areas of interest to the wider business.
Monitoring relevant construction, contracts law and procurement legislative changes and case-law affecting the conduct of the company’s business.
Ensuring that continuing professional development is maintained and that professional knowledge remains current, by participating in appropriate training / courses / seminars.
Attendance at various internal committees related to contract approvals.

What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Solicitor with circa 5 years post-qualification experience, including at least 2 years in commercial contracts – experience of construction and/or health and safety laws is advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge of public procurement procedures and legislation desirable.
Knowledge of standard form construction contracts and legislation desirable.
Ability to deal confidently and professionally with day-to-day issues and handle complex issues with limited supervision.
Team-oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
Solution-orientated, i.e. ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than a purely 'academic' approach to legal issues.
Ability to set your own high standards of performance

What you'll get in return

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, with possible extension for the right candidate. Excellent opportunity to gain exposure to one of Ireland's largest utility networks. On offer is a competitive base salary paying up to €75000, hybrid working, staff benefits and much, much more.
